Why he's the best:

April 1, 2008
Happy Birthday Jonathan!!!!!!!!!

Today is my husband's birthday. He is THE BEST HUSBAND I KNOW!!!! As a tribute to Jonathan on his birthday, I'd like to point out some reasons why I'm confident he is the best husband.
He loves me; when we go out to eat, after I've been served my food, he asks if there's anything else I need so he can ask the server for it for me; he orders wheat crust instead of white even though he hates it, because he knows it's my favorite; he washes the dishes after dinner without me asking him to; he works SO hard at work all day long and asks me EVERY day if there is anything he can do to serve me; he finds a babysitter so that we can have a date night every week; he motivates me to pursue God more when I see his tireless pursuit of God; he's already begun reading Instructing a Child's Heart so that he can raise London in a way that says that he fears God; he makes detailed plans on paper to put to death sin and cultivate godliness; he shares the Gospel with salesmen and people on his business trips; he buys me special treats (candy, candles, jewelry) downtown for no reason; he says, "You're such a good wife" and the list goes on and on.

Ephesians 5:25 says "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her..." Now that's a sacrificial love!! Wouldn't you agree that Jonathan exemplifies that verse? And that's after less than four years of practice at being a husband! I would say God's grace is on this man! Amen!
Happy Birthday My Love! I love you more than anything in this world!

"In my Easter dress"

I didn't end up introducing the peas last week, but I let her try mango instead. She loved it right away. Oops... Hope I don't regret that this week when we do introduce the peas!
***Exciting news--- London has her first tooth beginning to poke through! It was a relief to finally see some action in the gum-region after blaming her fussy spells on teething for months now! It helps me to have more compassion for her. Bless her teething heart...

The BEST SIX MINUTES of your day

Week after week at our church (and all the days in between in my home), I am reminded to preach the Gospel to myself. Before becoming a Christian this was something I had never thought to do. Sure, the Gospel is the power of God to Salvation, but do I really need it every day of my life after that? YES! So that's why watching this video will most likely be the best six minutes of your day today. And if you are not a Christian, then watching this video has the potential to CHANGE your life FOREVER.

Golfing and such

I haven't been taking many pictures lately, so this is all I have to offer... Rest assured, our baby is still very cute :)

At the golfing range with Daddy

London with her Uncle Brian (for those of you who know Mike, isn't Brian beginning to look exactly like him?!)
Our big girl has expanded her diet to include apples and pears. I am dreading introducing peas this week. Who is going to want peas after all of the delectable treats she currently knows and loves? Check out the wild animal print bib Omegus (my mom) got London!

Our Growing Girl, 6 months

6 months has been a monumental month for London.
She is eating solids.
She can sit up by herself for a few seconds.
She splashes in the bathtub.
She plays with her "rock-a-stack" toy.
She can ride in her umbrella stroller.
She sat in a highchair at a restaurant for the first time.
She will sit in the little seat in the grocery cart today when we do our shopping!

At 16#3 oz. London is still in the 75th percentile for her weight. The doctor says that she will be slower to learn to crawl because she has lots of weight to lug around!

"My 6 month foot!"
"Sitting up!!"
Visiting Tic Tock Ice Cream shop with Mommy and Daddy.
"I love playing this snapping game with my daddy!"
London smiles and squeals when Jonathan comes home from work.
If there is ever silence then you can bet that London has found a tag to chew on! It's her favorite of all things... chewing on tags and the straps in her stroller and carseat. (see two pic up)
"My first time in a highchair!" At our favorite Mexican restaurant.
I think this picture is SO sweet. Asleep on our way out to Loudon...
"My first taste of food!!!"

Happy St. Patrick's Day! (and first foods!)

Here are a few more cupcake creations inspired by St. Patrick's Day.
(the "grass" cupcakes were Jonathan's idea)

Wouldn't you agree that it's only fitting a child of mine would enjoy something sweet as her first food? Here is London with her first cupcake!

JUST KIDDING! I didn't let her actually eat it!
However, she did try her first "solid" last Saturday and enjoyed it quite a bit! It has been lots of fun trying out new foods on her. Her all-time favorite so far is avocado. She loves it! It took her a few days to appreciate the banana, but she likes it now. Stay tuned for pictures of London trying out solids for the first time...

Cupcakes

I went to a class yesterday and learned how to decorate cupcakes. I even learned how to work with fondant. It was so much fun! Jonathan bought me a whole set of tips so I am looking forward to experimenting with them more.

London- as cute as ever.

On Wednesday we took a meal to our friends the Campbells. Julia Elisabeth was born a week ago Wed. and London got to hold her. She was very excited to do so and reached out to grab Julia's hand immediately. Very sweet.
Also, we found out yesterday that our good friends, Will and Meg, are expecting a GIRL in early August. We are so excited for them! We know that London and Laurel will be great friends!

London in her new Bumbo seat (on loan from Braden).
We got to have lunch with a bunch of the HGTV crew (new and old) this week at Litton's. It was a good time as always. And London got to meet the rest of the HGTV babies this time!

London with Jake. It took a little prompting for him to hold her hand.
Holding hands to pray! Fran, Jack, Jake and London.
Jill (our new neighbor!), Elaine and Lisa. Elaine and Lisa were my bosses while I was at Scripps. They are the best bosses ever!

Meredith (getting married in August!) with London.
Frances with her boys.
All of the girls in this picture have been a log editor with me at some point in the past! Esther is currently in my old position.
